Habitat Drawings 2018

Thinking about reality in witch we live in, about the natural habitat and that was given to us, accepting it unconditionally and without hesitation, I find a pronounced complexity of the environment, nature, interpersonal relationships and life as such.

That certainly reflects on my understanding of art and my attitude towards my own approach to visual work. My artworks are extremely repetitive, which for me is a reflection of modern society. It is the cause and victim of the multitude of the informations it encounters. In addition to the repetition in the drawing, it is also important that each individual form is autonomous.

Therefore, I create my own habitat, or „forest“ of uniform shapes, which with their unity and density suffocate the emptiness and draw attention to themselves, creating a monolith. The same way it happens in society. Individuality may be lost in the group, but not necessarily as a negative phenomenon. I am pointing to the time in which we live and which has led us to this stage of social relations. The apathy of the broad masses has as great negative impact on society as the social engagement around one idea would have a positive one. Thus, I appeal to the understanding that the individual in the group has greater strength and power, as well as to the fact that his identity is, in that way, completely preserved, and not lost.
